The Evpatoria kenasa complex is a religious and cultural center of the Crimean Karaites (the Karayi) – one of the smallest indigenous people of Crimea. It was built at the close of 18th century. On the territory of complex there are two kenasas (Karaite meeting-house), a library, a lapidary. An ethnographic museum of the complex represents the artifacts on the history, culture, religion and literature of the Crimean Karaites, and also articles of their way of life, clothes, etc. Every year many Karaites who live now in different countries come to Evpatoria. They want to learn their history and culture and participate at folklore festivals. The national cuisine cafe offers original dishes, which recipes have been kept unchanged for many centuries. To visit the Eupatorium kenasas complex means to touch the culture and develop empathy towards the ancient people of Crimea the representatives of which lasted out only some thousands all over the world.
