Kazantip: Festival or What? |
RENTALS
Authentic Kazantip is a festival-type event held every summer on the Crimean peninsula, Ukraine. Even though Wikipedia gives a definition of an 'electronic dance music festival', the organizers of Kazantip are completely against to claim themselves as a festival. Well, to tell the truth, they do not seem to have a clear idea as to what Kazantip is either and what the correct way is to call it, even though some of the founders prefer to use the word "project". Anyhow, who cares about this minor stuff? The most important part is what exactly happens at Kazantip! KaZantip – is an annual event, which usually starts in late July and lasts for about 2 - 4 weeks, till late August. More than 100 thousand people visit Kazantip every year enjoying the electronic dance music all month long performed by hundreds of greatest Russian and foreign DJs, dancers, and musicians. Kazantip is also so incredibly popular due to its fantastic location. Most of the discos and performances are set right on the beach, literally steps away from the sea and you are free to enjoy sunbathing and swimming in the clear Black Sea any time you want to. With more than 10 dance floors and 30 pubs and restaurants open almost 24 hours a day, you quickly get immersed into the positive atmosphere of holiday or, if you do really wanna call it so, a festival. In other words, Kazantip is a kind of beach party visited every year by 'freaks' from all around the world with the aim of enjoying life and happiness, with hundreds of great DJs and non-stop shows, located by the sea in a small village-sized resort town, Popovka. Sounds crazy and cool enough? We bet! The fun part is, it all started back in 1992 from a surfing championship with 78 participants and 600 visitors. People were provided with good music during the tournament and next year the number of visitors almost doubled along with DJs and other musicians who entertained the crowd. In 1997 founders of Kazantip arranged a party in an unfinished nuclear reactor that was abandoned after the Chernobyl tragedy. From then on, with crazy things ongoing, people loved visiting that place. It all started from 678 in 1992 and grew up into 100.000 every year now. But forget about the numbers and all this lame historical facts as the only thing you need to know is that Kazantip is a great way to paaarty! That's what counts! |
