When: Kazantip's opening day in 2012?

The Key Dates for Kazantip 2012:

"Unofficially" Kazantip will kick off on the 31^st of July 2012. The official opening day of Kazantip 2012 is scheduled for the 04^th of August 2012. The official closing party will start on the 11^th of August 2012.

Where is Kazantip?

Kazantip sets up its stages on the gorgeous sandy beaches of the resort town of Popovka (in Ukrainian spelt as Popivka) located in Crimea, Southern Ukraine. Evpatoria, the closest big city to Popovka, is located 30 kilometers (~18 miles) away. Popovka is well known for the longest, widest, cleanest and most beautiful fine sand beaches as well as the most breathtaking sunsets over the Black Sea.

How can you get there?

AIR
Step one is to purchase a ticket to Simferopol, which is the capital city of Crimea. If you're the lucky holder of a E.U. (European Union) or US passport, then you do not need a visa to enter the Ukraine. The Simferopol International Airport is the only one in Crimea so we are pretty sure you can find it. In summer months, there are direct connections with Frankfurt, Istanbul and Moscow but the majority of available flights are via Kiev.

" Tickets can sell out fast - plenty of people travel to Crimea during the summer - so don't wait

LAND
The final part of the journey is getting from the airport to Popovka. The easiest and fastest way is to take a taxi; they charge about $80.00 US. The cheapest way to make the scenic journey is by bus or by train – the downside here. It takes an extra 2 ^1/2 hours. The Train & Bus Station is about 15 km away from the Simferopol airport and takes you to Mirnyi, a small town near Popovka. You can taxi from the station there into town or to your hotel.

* Hints for train travel: The train requires a change in the town of Evpatoria so don't fall asleep and miss it; you will need to take a bus or a taxi to make the transfer.

Hire A CAR
Are you more then a tourist and consider yourself to be a real traveler and adventurer? Do you like to have control of where you stop and hate being constricted by the time constraints of public transportation? Hire a car and drive yourself to Kazantip and all around Crimea. You and your friends will have a road trip you'll never forget and memories that will enrich your travel experience.

* Hint: Be smart, if you want to hire a car bring a good road map of Crimea or get a car with a GPS navigation unit. DUH!

Who needs a ViZa for Kazantip 2012?

Everyone needs a viZa! The "Republic of Kazantip" is not really a separate country (you knew that right?), but visiting there does require a "viZa". By obtaining your own personal viZa, you automatically become an official resident of the Republic of Kazantip armed with a card containing your own personal and unique barcode on in. With this viZa you are free to enjoy every inch of the Kazantip complex. Kazantip offers up 10 dance floors, sandy beaches that meet the warm Black Sea, bars that reach over the water, tents with DJ's, all the featured festivities and so much more!! While visiting Kazantip 2012 this is the only form of ID / ticket you will need to enter and exit as you wish.

2 types of viZas:

A One-Time ViZa gives you the right to enter the Republic of Kazantip - guess how many times?? ONE! With this One-Time viZa, you may cross the border into the Republic of Kazantip but once you exit the boarder your viZa automatically expires. The approximate price for One-Time viZa is $100 US. Who could come for just one day?

A Multi-Pass ViZa says you are serious and came to party. It is valid for the whole season and gives you the right to enter and exit the "The Republic" as often as you wish. A Multi-Pass ViZa costs appr. $200 US and is worth every penny.[more]

* Hints:
" Obviously, if you plan on staying for more then 2 days it makes sense to buy a Multi-Pass ViZa.
" Always show up a day before your want to enter the republic to have time to get your viZa processed.

IMPORTANT Change for 2012 viZas:
Last year the Kazantip viZa Department changed how they process and issue viZas. As of this year you must first complete the online pre-registration process prior to purchasing a viZa from the viZa Department. Once your application is submitted just kick back and wait for an e-mail of approval and you're in.

* Hint: When applying for your viZa first read the instructions set out on the official web-site of Kazantip. I know, I know – who wants to read the silly instructions right? You do, because if you fail to follow the instructions you might not get a viZa and that would suck.

Where to stay? Kazantip Hotels.

The closest local town to Kazantip that has the best rental options is Popovka. Another one is Minryi (1 km away). Both towns offer up several types of different accommodation types to fit any budget. You'll find hotels, private guesthouses, holiday homes and villas as well as rooms, suites and apartments for rent. Prices vary by accommodation type and class, location, amenities etc. Budget options begin at $25-30/person per night and increase from there.

* Hints for booking your bed:
" Book your place well in advance; the early bird gets the best price. August is high season and if you don't get in early you will end up staying far away and be at the hands of the taxi gods.
