ViZa: a Ticket for Kazantip 2013

If you are a citizen of the United States or any country of the European Union, which means you do not need a visa to come to Ukraine, and you think that you are done and this article has nothing to do with you, then you are sooo wrong. KaZantip is a 'republic' and... we know this may sound weird, but the Kazantip Republic has its own ViZa Department responsible for issuing entry passes/tickets to the people willing to visit Kazantip. The proper name of the ticket is "viZa" and you must have it, otherwise they will not let you in. So regardless of what country you are from, even if you don't need a visa to travel to Ukraine, you will still have to deal with some sort of 'embassy' to get your viZa for Kazantip 2013. But chin up! We will lead you through the process, so just keep on reading.

ViZa Types

First off, there are two kinds of viZas available:
Multiple Entry viZa. This kind of viZa is good for the entire period of Kazantip and it is valid for re-entry to the territory of Z-Republic. Most of you will need this multiple entry viZa since Kazantip is separated from the rest of Popovka where all the hotels are, which means you will have to cross the border of Kazantip every day and more than once. Also, if you wake up one beautiful morning and feel tired of everyday dancing and want to see other parts of Crimea and then go back, your viZa will still be valid then. As of 29 March 2013, the price of the multiple entry viZa is about 210 US Dollars but it will go up as the event draws closer.
Single Entry ViZa. This kind of viZa is good for one day and it will no longer be valid for re-entry once you leave the Kazantip territory. It goes at about 100 US Dollars.

How to Purchase a ViZa?

Unlike getting a Ukrainian visa to enter the country, you do not have to fill out and submit tons of paperwork. All you need to do is go online at kazantip-republic.com/viza, fill out the application form with basic information about yourself and upload a recent photo of yourself. Once your application is approved by the viZa Department, you can purchase your viZa. The online registration begins in March and remains open till the middle of July. Since 2012, you can pay for your viZa with Visa or Mastercard. American Express or Discover will not work. Though, if you don't mind waiting in line and paying more, you still can purchase your viZa upon arrival. No worries, there will be plenty of viZas available at the gate and they never run out of viZas. However there will be hundreds of people who couldn't find 5 minutes to sign up online and you may have to spend an hour or two in line just to pay for your viZa. Plus it will cost you more than if you buy it online. Do you need all this? Better find a moment to pre-register online. It saves time, money and stress. Good luck!
